Reverse Engineering of Impact Drill
Overview:
As part of my undergraduate coursework, I purchased an impact drill and performed a reverse engineering study to understand its mechanical design and functionality. I disassembled the drill into all individual components, measured each part and modeled them in Siemens NX.
Technical Work
Created detailed 3D part models for each component and create assembly modeling and exploded view animations.
Conducted motion simulation to analyze gear and spindle kinematics during drilling operation.
Performed Finite Element Method (FEM) analysis to evaluate stress distribution on key load-bearing parts under torque load.
Applied material assignments, constraints, and motion joints to replicate real-world operating. conditions.
